Account Executive - Mid-Market, North America

  • On-site
    • Amsterdam (Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands)
  • Mid Market Sales

Job description

We built and scaled a global customer base from our headquarters in Amsterdam. The United States became one of our most important markets, so we put people on the ground here; our Chicago office is open in River North and running.

You'd be joining early, but not from zero. The person who ran our European mid-market sales team has moved to Chicago, which means our sales process and every hard-won lesson has been brought into the new office. Our first U.S. SDR is here too, ramped and hitting their numbers. We've been increasing investment in our marketing channels month over month, and inbound volume has grown with it.

The timing couldn't be better. For years, FMCG companies have been stuck with limited choice among legacy market intelligence providers. Every quarter, more of them switch to Vesper. We have the product, the infrastructure, and a happy, growing U.S. customer base already in place. And you'll get to visit the canals in Amsterdam from time to time to work with the rest of your colleagues in person.

This is not your typical AE role. You'll be joining a small, high-performing team where you'll have ownership, impact, and a front-row seat as we scale. It's for an ambitious closer who wants to be a builder.

Why you should join us

  • Own your success: You'll have full control over the sales cycle. No silos, no hand-holding, just real responsibility and the opportunity to make a massive impact.

  • Build the North American market: You're not taking over someone's patch. You'll cover the U.S. and Canada, decide which accounts matter, and set the pattern the next hires follow.

  • Hone your sales mastery: You'll sell to procurement managers, some of the toughest negotiators out there. It's an elite training ground for top-tier closers.

  • Pipeline is already coming in: Our Chicago SDR is ramped and successfully booking qualified meetings with ICP accounts. Marketing investment has grown month over month and keeps adding inbound on top of that.

  • The European playbook is in the building: The leader who scaled our mid-market team in Europe is now based in Chicago, and a Vesper product marketer sits here too, so market knowledge, product answers, and proven sales patterns are a desk away, not an eight-hour time difference.

  • We invest in your growth: We bring in outside trainers, run the internal Vesper Academy, and coach you on pitch, negotiation, and closing.

  • Face-to-face selling: Alongside inside sales, you'll travel to trade shows and customer meetings across North America to build relationships and close in person.

  • International exposure: You'll work daily with colleagues in Amsterdam and learn from a team selling across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

What you'll be doing

  • Full-cycle sales: Own the end-to-end sales process, running 12+ high-impact demos per week and converting prospects into paying customers.

  • Strategic targeting: Work closely with SDRs to refine messaging, target high-value accounts, and optimize our approach to maximize conversions.

  • Closing deals: Design the right subscription packages, navigate complex negotiations, and secure high-value contracts with key decision-makers.

  • Grow our market share: Work across our Ideal Customer Profile, FMCG and food companies in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

  • Work closely with your SDR, marketing, and product marketing: Refine messaging, target high-value accounts, and sharpen the approach for the North American market as we learn what lands here.

  • Get in front of the market: Our buyers love to attend events, and you'll meet them face-to-face at events and conferences across the country.

  • Own your targets end-to-end, with the autonomy and accountability to choose the most effective path to hitting them.

What you'll bring

  • You've closed deals in SaaS, software and/or market intelligence before

  • High intrinsic motivation to take ownership and execute your work

  • Strong resilience and a desire to win

  • Personable, likeable, sociable; you build trust quickly with people who negotiate for a living

  • Excellent written and spoken English. Spanish or French is a plus

  • Keen interest or experience working in a startup or scale-up environment

  • Willingness to travel across North America for trade shows and customer meetings

  • Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

  • You live in or around Chicago or are willing to move there (we do not offer relocation assistance)

The role can be a Senior Account Executive for candidates with the right experience.

What you get

  • Personal responsibility with a ton of autonomy and growth potential — you are part of the team opening a new market

  • An entrepreneurial environment where you learn more every day

  • International experience working in a global company

  • A chance to see your work make a real difference; we work in the food industry

  • A fantastic office in River North, Chicago

Compensation & benefits

  • Base salary: competitive, depending on experience

  • Variable compensation: performance-based commission on closed business

  • Benefits: medical insurance; paid time off; and additional benefits in line with local market standards
