Job description

Who we are

The commodity world is complex—it’s fast-moving but traditional. These everyday products, from your morning coffee to the petrol in your car, play a critical role in the global economy and in our daily lives. Vesper is disrupting the commodity game. We're the fastest-growing commodity intelligence platform, trusted by giants like Nestlé, Unilever, and Danone. We combine cutting-edge AI with real-world data to give our customers the insights they need to win in a volatile market.

What we expect from this role

As our Red Meat Market Insights Analyst, your job is to make sense of what's happening in beef and pork markets and turn it into insights our customers can actually use. Prices, herd cycles, and trade flows are the backbone of the job, but the mood of the market matters just as much. You'll help procurement teams answer the questions that keep them up at night, like "should we lock in beef prices now, or wait for relief?"

You'll work closely with other market analysts and the Product team, tracking down data we don't have yet, growing our coverage of red meat markets, with a particular focus on strengthening our presence in the US market, and making sure our reports and tools give people what they need to make good sourcing and pricing calls.

We're looking for someone who genuinely likes getting into the data, is curious about how red meat markets actually work, can turn what they find into insights that are easy to act on, and works well with people across the business.

If you like moving fast, enjoy learning as markets shift under your feet, get energy from having real ownership, and don't mind decisions being made in minutes rather than weeks, this role might be for you!

What you will be doing

  • Analyse global and regional production, trade flows, and consumption trends for beef and pork, from live animals through boxed/cutout value chains.

  • Deliver weekly market updates and ad hoc reports that combine fundamental analysis, market sentiment, and relevant futures or derivatives developments (e.g., CME live cattle, feeder cattle, lean hogs).

  • Identify, source, and validate new data to increase Vesper's red meat market coverage, with a priority on building out our US data footprint.

  • Build and maintain a network of producers, packers, feedlots, exporters, importers, and traders, particularly within the US market, to validate trends and get insight straight from the ground.

  • Lead research initiatives independently, and act as the go-to person for red meat markets within Vesper, supporting colleagues and cross-functional teams with market expertise.

  • Build and maintain supply-demand balance sheets and price views for beef and pork, tracking drivers such as feed costs, herd/breeding cycles, disease outbreaks, and freight or logistics disruptions.

  • Translate market needs and user feedback into concrete product improvements, working closely with the Product team.

  • Join client calls, webinars, and industry events to share your expertise and grow Vesper's presence in the red meat space.

What you will bring

  • 5+ years of experience in red meat markets, covering beef and pork across the value chain (live animal, boxed/cutout, processed products).

  • Experience in or strong familiarity with the US red meat market is a strong plus.

  • Good understanding of supply chains, pricing mechanisms, and key market drivers within global red meat markets.

  • An existing network of relevant market participants (producers, packers, feedlots, traders), ideally including US contacts, with the willingness and curiosity to expand it further.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to navigate large, complex datasets and extract actionable insights.

  • Experience producing market analyses and reports with a forward-looking perspective.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Self-motivated and able to manage your own projects, while knowing when to collaborate or ask for input.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment and manage multiple priorities, including across US time zones where needed.

  • Knowledge of analytical tools (e.g., Excel, Python, R).

What you get

  • A fast-moving, high-growth environment with plenty of opportunity to learn

  • Full ownership of your domain, and the trust to shape your role

  • A collaborative culture that values speed, clarity, and impact

  • A chance to transform a traditional business impacting every day of our lives

  • A fantastic location in the city centre of Amsterdam

  • Great hangouts with brilliant people
